Bain makes history as the first gay K-pop star to come out

One of the members of the Korean pop group Just B, Bain, has come out as gay.

During a performance in Los Angeles, the 23-year-old revealed his sexuality.

In the highly competitive Korean music industry, where musicians are notoriously reserved about their personal life, this is an unusual step.

As a gay person, Bain proudly declared, "I'm proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community — as a gay person," his solo performance.

The audience erupted in raucous cheers, as captured in videos that went viral online.

This is for all the people who identify as LGBTQ+ or are still trying to figure it out. "You were born this way, and you are seen and loved," he added.

The first male K-pop star to publicly come out is Bain, according to the Korean media outlet News1.

"I was watching from backstage and I cried too," Bain's bandmate Siwoo said on a fan platform after Tuesday's concert, offering words of encouragement.

Knowing how difficult it was for him made me cry even harder.
