Premier League: His talent is undeniable --- Amorim instructed by Murphy to prevent Manchester United from selling midfielder

Danny Murphy, a former Liverpool player, has asked Ruben Amorim, Manchester United manager, to keep midfielder Kobbie Mainoo from being sold.

As a result of the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), Mainoo has been tipped to leave Manchester United during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

But Murphy wants Amorim to lobby the club's upper management to extend Mainoo's contract at Old Trafford past the summer.

The England international, in his opinion, is gifted and has the potential to make a significant long-term contribution to Manchester United.

According to Murphy's Daily Mail essay, Amorim should put his faith in the 20-year-old and give him more playing time in the defensive role.

If you ask Murphy, "What does [Ruben] Amorim see in [Kobbie] Mainoo?" she'll tell you.

Mainoo can play that defensive role just fine, according to Murphy; he needs leadership and direction.

I get that there have been whispers about how United need to sell Alejandro Garnacho to address PSR concerns, but the question remains: does the club have an overabundance of gifted midfielders? No.”

It doesn't matter if United are managed by Amorim or someone else; Mainoo and Garnacho are two ambitious, gifted players who can make a significant impact in the coming years.

I would be communicating with Mainoo, my superiors, and myself to ensure that he remained if I were Amorim.

If he were to depart in the summer, that would still surprise me.
