In the Gidan-idi Kwakwazo community of Sokoto State's Goronyo Local Government Area, a fire broke out, destroying onions valued at millions of naira.
In an official X post, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed this.
Around nine in the morning on Friday, the disaster burned multiple local storage facilities and utterly leveled sixty onion barns.
The good news is that nobody was hurt or killed. As of this evaluation, the fire's precise origin is still a mystery, it said.
At the time of evaluation, NEMA stated that the actual source of the fire was unknown.
For those whose livelihood depends on growing onions, the calamity is a devastating blow.
Those farmers whose livelihoods were threatened by the occurrence characterized it as a catastrophic setback.
