Actor Afeez Oyetoro of Nigeria, also known as Saka, has spoken out about the reasons behind the postponement of his marriage.
In his most recent interview with media mogul Chude Jideowon, the actor made this fact clear.
He got married at age 40, according to the actor and theatre arts lecturer at the Lagos State University of Education, who was speaking about his personal life and career.
Saka made the comment, "I'm now paying school fees with grey hair," while explaining that he was late getting married due to a lack of self-assurance and funds.
"I am not confident. For the most part, I keep to myself. Two things—my career and myself—led to my marriage being postponed.
Theatrical arts were unfunded and unrecognised back then. We were merely acting out of pure enthusiasm.
Moreover, we were only instructed in performing and not given any guidance on how to financially support our theatre company.
When I was through, I had absolutely nothing, not even a vehicle. It goes without saying that a girl will give you the side eye if you call her.
A woman even went so far as to say that I should quit acting and do something meaningful with my life since I'm wasting it.
The woman I was meant to marry insisted that I get two cars before we could tie the knot. At that point, I knew she wasn't my wife.
In 2003, Saka wed Olaide Oyetoro, whom he had located in due time. Three children have been bestowed upon them.
