It is definitely not the first time that we are witnessing clone phones in the smartphone market. Landvo’s
S6 cannot be considered a new one either. But, what this smartphone
brought up by the Chinese company shows a little more than your average
built quality. A carbon copy of the Samsung Galaxy S6, Landvo S6 does
possess superb looks. However, can a spitting image of the Samsung
Galaxy S6 keep up with the standards and reputation earned by the
original S6? Differences might make phones lovers be disappointed at
times, and if the Landvo S6 has such differences as well, then it could
be really problematic for the sales of the Landvo’s cloned flagships.
But something like this can be decided
by a customer only. For instance, you want a brilliant phone that has
recently launched in the market. Its looks, style and specs are just off
the chart – instantly making you develop an urge to get it.
Unfortunately, the price for it comes up too way above your budget. In
the same situation, you also come across a similar phone, but from a
company that you never even heard of. Would you buy from the latter
company to satisfy your urge? If yes, then this phone might be what you
are looking for. That said; let’s see how well the phone has been built
inside and outside.
Specifications:
- 5″ HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display, 16 M colours
- 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex-A7
- MediaTek MT6582 chipset
- 1 GB of RAM
- 16 GB in-built storage, no expansion slot
- 16 MP primary camera with autofocus
- 5 MP front camera with sensor
- 2G/ 3G network support
- Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi
- 2550 mAh battery
- Android version 5.0 (Lollipop).
Externals: Design and Display:
The Landvo S6 possesses an IPS capacitive touchscreen with 16 m colours. The screen size is 5 inches with 1280 by 720 pixels at 294 pixels per inch. Comparing the screen to the Galaxy S6, it would be considered a newborn. The Landvo S6 does not even feature a QHD display which will definitely show up an average looking screen. The design and polished edges might resemble the Galaxy S6, but the quality of the material used to do the same is definitely not the best.
You get a plastic back body for the
phone which is not at all up to the standards of the original S6. Due to
the plastic built, the body weighs a lot less than the original
smartphone. All such minute changes in the phone might make one aware of
the quality of the phone. But, if the phone is seen from a distance,
one would barely be able to notice the difference unless the brand name
is checked out. One thing that Landvo S6 has kept the same is the usage
of the TouchWiz UI brought to us by Samsung. Some might like this
feature while others might not.
Internals: Hardware and Software:
The Landvo S6 features Android Lollipop
v5.0 firsthand. Other than that, you do not get the usual Galaxy S6
specs. Instead of the monster core in the Galaxy S6, the Landvo S6
offers 1.5 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU processor chip. This is
accompanied by MediaTek MT6582 chipset. PowerVR SGX544 GPU is also there
to support it. All these features are not at all up to the mark as in
the Galaxy S6. But, they cannot be considered the worst either. They
would run apps and games just fine – but, for how long? That is the
question. All this is just supported with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal
storage. You will not even get an expandable card slot in the phone.
Even the battery is not worthwhile spending if you are a frequent phone
user. With just 2550 mAh of juice, the phone might not keep up with
power for the whole day and might require charging it.
Camera and Connectivity:
Taking a look at the camera, we can find
that the phone has a 16 MP primary camera with 3264 by 2448 pixels. The
camera supports autofocus, HDR, panorama, geo-tagging and comes with a
LED flash. You can record the videos at 1080p@30fps. Talking about the
front camera, then the Landvo S6 possesses 5-MP front camera with 1600
by 1200 pixel photos. Not one of the best cameras in the market, but
still is a decent one compared to other Chinese competitors.
Connectivity options are just average as
well giving you 2G, EDGE and 3G. You do not get 4G in this phone. Wi-Fi
802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot and Wi-Fi Direct are provided in the
phone. You also get Bluetooth v4.0 in the phone. A-GPS is also there but
no GLONASS. Besides that, you get MicroUSB v2.0.
Conclusion:
It might be disappointing for many phone lovers (the original phone lovers) to see such cloned phones in the markets. Not because they are a copied versions of the original, but because they copying part is not of the same standards or quality as the original. Honestly, no one cares about buying a highly expensive phone. Why people buy them is because of the quality specs they offer. If Landvo S6 also possesses a quality standard similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6, then people are definitely going to buy it. Even experts would suggest them to go for such phones. Cheapness is not the factor in such phone. If you don’t believe the argument presented here, then take a look at the Oneplus One. The phone came up as an unknown brand but did set a record for being the Phone of the year for 2014 and is still popular in the current year. The reason for it is the promised quality specs it possessed. And, that is what made it stand out amongst the crowd
Landvo’s commitment towards offering a brand new, yet copied, phone
might be a good step for phone lovers. But, it still lacks the quality
that people desire in their phone. People who keep knowledge about
phones are well aware of the specs being installed in phones at a much
cheaper investment as compared to the final price. Then why not give
people a decent phone which they require. Nonetheless, the Landvo S6 did
a brilliant job with the design it has built which makes it look as
impressive as the Galaxy S6. But would you call that enough? That’s yet
to be decided. You can avail the phone from the Nigerian market at 130
USD.
